Althea Swanson Obituary

SWANSON, ALTHEA, H. (NICHOLSON) 87, of Ten Rod Rd., died Thursday in the South County Hospital, Wakefield. She was the beloved wife of Oscar S. Swanson.

She was born in Fall River, MA, a daughter of the late Walter and Ida (Plant) Nicholson. A resident of Exeter for the past fifty-one years, and had been a member of the former St. Ansgarius Episcopal Church in Providence. Mrs. Swanson was a Navy veteran of WWII.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Karin and son-in-law Robert Dickerson of Camp LeJeune, NC; Kristina and son-in-law Fred Kerber of Bloomfield, NJ; Linnea and son-in-law Charles Tuttle of Exeter; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral service Monday at 11 a.m. in the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Friends will be welcomed one hour prior to the service. Interment in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Should friends desire, donations in her memory to South County Hospital, Wakefield, RI will be appreciated. I am extremely sorry for your loss. Please take comfort in knowing that she is in a better place where she will be watching over you, guiding and protecting you. Honor her memory and the woman she was and will always be to you, by celebrating her life and the many blessings she had and brought to your lives. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
