Anthony Cece Obituary

CECE, ANTHONY S. 94, of 34 East Hill Drive, Cranston, passed peacefully on August 24, 2015. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church (and a former altar boy as a child). Anthony served his country with distinction in World War II as a Captain. He was a bombardier with the 459th Bomb Group of the 15th Air Force. Stationed in Italy, he flew 28 missions and took part in the famous air raids of the Ploesti Oil Fields. While serving in Italy, Anthony was awarded the Air Medal for "meritorious achievement". A graduate of Bryant College, he started and headed several very successful companies including Broadway Credit, Celi Realty, Cece Insurance, Aylsworth World Travel and Carlson Travel of Providence and Warwick. An avid traveler, he visited Russia, Tahiti and most of Europe and the Carribean, sailed on over 50 different ships and flew on the supersonic Concord aircraft as well. Family was the most important thing to him and "Popsie" loved nothing more than spending time with them. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lee (Ferri), daughter Patricia Anastadis and her fiancé Roy Monteiro of Cranston, son Anthony Steven Cece of Cranston and his wife Jammie, grandson Robert C. Natale and his wife Holly, granddaughter Nancy Peters and her husband Michael, Alexandra, Olivia, Isabella, and great grandsons Frank and Theodore Peters. We would like to say a very special thank you to the loving and devoted staff at Alpine Nursing Home where he spent the past year. Contributions may be made in his memory to Alpine Nursing Home, 557 Weaver Hill Rd., Coventry, RI 02816. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Thursday at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will take place in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS will be Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. Visit Nardolillo.com for online condolences.

I remember Mr Cece from so many years ago when his dear mother-in-law Louise was a patient at St Joseph Hospital.
I attended her wake and he was so touched, he wanted to send me on a trip of my choice! I remember what a lovely family the Cece and Ferris are. They leave a memorable impact. Rest In Peace Mr Cece,
Fondly, Ellen Caron

Dear Rocky, My deepest sympathy to you and your family on the loss of your Dad. While I never met your father, I spoke to him often on the phone at the travel agency. He was such a sweet man, and before putting me on hold, he always told me to "have a nice day!" May all your memories of happier times bring you comfort now and in the days ahead.

A class act! Mr. Cece was never too busy to have a conversation with me. Whether it was on the phone or in person. He always had a smile on his face and a story to tell me. He was the epitome of the words "FAMILY MAN". Please know that our prayers are with you at this difficult time! Love Billy,Pam and Erica Calise
