Brierley Mellor Obituary

MELLOR, BRIERLEY H. "BRI"
passed away peacefully in his home in North Kingstown on September 28, 2017.
Brierley is survived by his wife of 40 years, "Tuie" Mellor, and his children; Seth Mellor and Beth Kosak of East Greenwich, Graham C. Mellor of East Greenwich and Jamieson Mellor of North Kingstown.
Brierley was born in Providence in 1951 to William W. Mellor and Constance A. (Henry) Mellor, and Graduated from East Greenwich High School. In September of 1977, he made what proved to be the wisest decision of his life and married Ruth "Tuie" (Usher) Mellor, and never looked back. They settled in North Kingstown in 1980, and raised their family, which included their own 3 sons, and several "adopted" kids from the neighborhood.
Brierley was accomplished tradesman and lover of life. Never one to sit still, he was often found helping a neighbor install a faucet, or plowing their driveways on his beloved 1966 Cub Cadet Tractor. If you called, he would answer. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America with his sons, and sat on several committees in the Town of North Kingstown, including the School Department Facilities Sub Committee, and the Zoning Board.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10:00 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 99 Peirce Street, East Greenwich, RI 02818. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Brierley's life. Instead of flowers, consider donating to The Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation, P.O. Box 1912, East Greenwich, RI 02818. SALGI.org for esophageal cancer. If you cannot attend the service, do what "Bri" was often found doing, helping a neighbor. He would like that. I didn't ever meet this man... but it's obvious that he was one of the rare "good ones" - I can say this as I know his son Graham - who carries on his Dad's legacy. I am so sorry for your family - may you all feel the love and comfort of the many who care!!! <3 AnneMarie

Dearest Tuie and Boys
Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of Brierley. This picture could not be more perfect, it is how I remember him in high school. He was always ready for a word of encouragement in tough times. His passing truly reminds us again, how short our time on earth really is.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Bri and to be unable to attend the celebration of his life due to distance. Tuie, you and your sons are in Norm's and my thoughts and prayers. We will follow Bri's excellent example of helping someone in our community in his memory, and hope that our donation can help to prevent the horrible suffering caused by cancer for others in the future.
