Conrad Joyal Obituary

JOYAL, CONRAD L., LIEUT. RISP (RET.) 81, of North Gate Dr., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at Kent Regency. He was the beloved husband of Lucille M. (Roy) Joyal, they have been married for 57 years. Born in West Warwick, a son of the late Leo and Edna (Theroux) Joyal. He was a lifelong resident of West Warwick. Mr. Joyal served with the RI State Police for 21 years retiring with the rank of Lieutenant in 1976. Following the State Police he served as head of security for General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division in Quincy, MA. He then formed and headed the security department at Johnson & Wales University later becoming Dean of Students before retiring in 1996. He was a Korean War Navy Veteran, an avid golfer where he was a member at West Warwick Country Club and a life member of Club Frontenac. Besides his wife he leaves a brother, Robert Joyal of Winchendon, MA and many loving nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Lorraine Beaudoin and Claire Candelmo. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014 at 10 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington Street, Coventry followed by military honors. Interment will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. I remember back in our West Warwick High days when returning from our High School Baseball games-Conrad would pull us over-giving us a scare then would ask us what the score was.Brother Bob & I were close friends- Rest in peace Conrad.

Chuck was more than a neighbor and thought of as family. He treated me like a daughter and was very good to me throughout the years. I will always be grateful for Chuck being there for me, especially the day my father passed away. He was the first person I ran to and will always remember his kind words and support. It was only a short period of time that I knew Mr. Joyal. But from the first time Candy introduced me to him I knew he was a great man and a person that I would respect and admire. Candy told me he was like a second father to her and I saw why. A truly great man and will be sorely missed.
