BISSET, JR., DAVIES WATT "DAVE" Of Narragansett, RI and Naples, FL passed away on October 19th after a short illness, surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Agnes (McKnight) Bisset to whom he was very devoted. He is also survived by his children, Davies III and his wife Megan of East Greenwich, RI, Andrew of Zurich, Switzerland, Elizabeth Hoy and husband John of Orlando, FL, Bobby and wife Shaney of London, England and Kimberly and wife Caroline of Boston, MA and eleven grandchildren. Molly, Lucy and Sophie Bisset; Jack, Kristina and Davies Hoy; Ryder, Lachlan and Elke Bisset; and Nathaniel and Madeline Bisset-Mock. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his sister Jean Bisset Graham of Pawtucket and her children Laurie Graham Clark and Gary Graham. Dave was the son of the late Davies Watt and Susan (Martin) Bisset who emigrated from Edinburgh, Scotland to Rhode Island. He was born in Providence and raised in Pawtucket and was proud to be a first-generation American and the first in his family to attend college. He graduated from Brown University in 1952 and then served for two years in the Korean War before joining Amica Mutual Insurance Company. Dave rose through the ranks at Amica over his 43-year career, retiring as the Senior Vice President of Underwriting. He was a devout Presbyterian and a life-long member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Cumberland, RI where he served in a variety of roles over the years, as a member of Session, Deacon and on the finance committee. He was a proud and active alumnus of Brown University and was a volunteer and leader for the Brown Alumni Association, the Brown Athletic Hall of Fame and the Brown Club of Rhode Island. Additionally, he was involved in a number of charitable, community and professional organizations including the Memorial Hospital, the Pawtucket Boys Club, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, and the Society of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters. Dave was an avid golfer and member at Point Judith Country Club in Narragansett and a Founder member of the Dunes Club in Narragansett. He was a former member of the University Club, the Turks Head Club and the Pawtucket Country Club. Dave and his wife enjoyed summers in Narragansett for many years and moved to South County full-time after his retirement from Amica in 1995. They lived in Naples, Florida during the winter months. He was also very proud of his Scottish heritage and enjoyed trips to Scotland, including a particularly memorable golf trip with his three sons for his 80th birthday, where they played five Open Championship courses, including St. Andrew's and Muirfield. Dave and Agnes enjoyed traveling, especially to visit their children who lived in a variety of desirable places over the years, including Bermuda, Dublin, Paris, London, Zurich, Charlottesville, VA and Pinehurst, NC. Dave Bisset was a quiet man who had the respect of many for his integrity, loyalty and sense of humor. He was a thoughtful, generous husband, father and grandfather and was blessed with many friends. He was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Calling hours will be Sunday, October 23rd from 2pm to 5pm at Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown. Agnes,
We were saddened to learn of Dave's death.
Once we both retired and the FOOOFS ceased
to exist, we lost track of each other. I
always had a great deal of respect for Dave
and enjoyed my association with him during
our many years at Amica. Please convey our
condolences to your family. In time, sorrow
will give way to memories of happier times.
In the meantime, we want you to know that
our thoughts are with you and your family.

Dear Agnes and family,
God Bless all of you. Your husband and father were in my early years from the time he went to Tolman High School and Mitchell's in New Hampshire. I respect him so well and I remember when he used to cash his early paychecks in Providence with Amica. I was a teller at Industrial National Bank. His successes in Rhode Island and your family are just outstanding. Ruth and I say the blessings be with you. Love all of you.

Dave was a special part of my career with Amica. Always supportive and constructively critical, he was instrumental in the growth I experienced in my field. I was most appreciative of his unwavering support of my involvement in CPCU. On the other side, I will never forget playing golf with him in Stuart, FL. He invited Jim Wagner and I to play with him and Andy Lees. Of course there was a monetary factor involved. So Wagner and I, two less than average golfers, took on two single digit handicappers. On one hole, both Dave and Andy picked up their balls while Jim and I finished out the hole in double digits. Dave recorded a 5 and 6 for him and Andy to win the hole, explaining that their handicaps did not allow them to take more than those scores on a given hole. Play well up above Dave.
