When I lived in Ann Arbor,MI, Aunt Eleanor told me she knew a jeweler at the mall there. On a whim I went into his shop and told him I was Eleanor's niece. His reaction was amazing. He gushed on and on about how they go way back, about how much fun they had, etc. Only later did I realize they had never met each other, only talked on the phone. She touched many lives in a positive way. She was enchanted by children and always showered them with gifts to delight in their reaction. She loved all things "Minnie Mouse", and Granny on the Beverly Hillbillies. She once told me she always felt bad for the cartoon bugs on the Raid commercial, who get killed.
When I took up golf and was in town, I asked her to play with me and she did. This was not that long ago. She was a special woman.

I have recently become a member of this family and had the pleasure of spending some time with Eleanor in the last few years. I must say she was far more beautiful than the photo here shows. Her laugh could be recognized to her last days. I can confidently say she was very much loved by the family, friends and neighbors I have met. Odva is a lot sweeter than he lets on and deserves thanks for being such a wonderful friend to her.

One of my fondest memories of my aunt Eleanor is her hosting of an annual Christmas Eve celebration at her home for several relatives, including me and my four siblings. From the typically self-centered view of a child, I thought it was special because of all the gifts and fun activities. As an adult, I can appreciate it as an example of the love she consistently showered on all her nieces and nephews through the years. To me, she was the "cool aunt," traveling the world with friends. She was always impeccably dressed and had an infectious laugh. Well into my adulthood, I could always count on a fun card in the mail from Eleanor, for random holidays and often for no occasion at all. My favorite part of every card was her classic signoff, “love and gumdrops.” She will truly be missed.

As a child and young adult I never knew Eleanor's exact title at Dolan & Bullock ... as an adult I didn't think it fully conveyed all she was to the company. When I was young my order of visit was always the same ... to the factory to see my grandfather and get a coke ... then to Eleanor for a hug and a piece of candy from her jar on the desk ... then to my fathers office! After my grandfathers death Eleanor was the first stop ... one would think it might have hurt my dad's feelings but not so as he held her in the same high regard and would often come back to her desk to see me!! She was a great support to our family and the company after my father's death. Although sad to hear of her death .... I am happy that her life continued to be full of travel, golf, friends and family. Her peaceful departure suited her warm and caring personality.
