Eric Swider

SWIDER, ERIC, 71, of Cumberland, met his God on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Hulitar Home & Hospice following a sudden illness. He was the beloved husband of Claudette (Lussier) Swider. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Alexander and Pauline (Natale) Swider and the brother of the late Annette B. Swider. He was the devoted father of Lee-Ann (Adam) Wiensch of Mequon, Wisconsin, Marcelle (Andrew) Szurley of Lincoln and Jeff (Jenny) Swider of Portsmouth. He was the proud pépère of eleven remarkable grandchildren. Eric had a 25-year career in Chamber of Commerce work, followed by 20 years as the owner of a direct mail marketing business, Super Coups. He was a daily communicant, trustee, SPRED catechist, Eucharistic minister, and founding member of the Men's Club of St. John Vianney Parish. His favorite hobby was cheering on his children and then his grandchildren at their academic, athletic, equestrian and performing arts endeavors. In years past, he was an avid bicyclist, boater, and was a gifted public speaker. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Road, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are warmly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Friday, from 5 to 8 PM.
