FLORA TIERNEY Obituary
She was the daughter of the late Howard L. and Isabelle (Daggett) Whitford and sister to Peter, Richard, Roger and Lynette Whitford. She also leaves her sons William Jr., Steven, Mark and Jeffrey Tierney as well as 6 grandchildren.
Flo was a 1957 graduate of the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, later, working there as a labor and delivery nurse for 36 years. She was a volunteer at Miriam Hospital admitting and worked 8 years at Blackstone Valley Community Health Center. She was a long time member of St Michael and All Angels, now the Church of the Epiphany. She belonged to the church's His & Her Club, she lovingly served as a host for many of the fellowship meals, and was also an usher and Godly Play Teacher.
A funeral will be held on Friday at 8:30 AM from the home of J.H. Williams & Co, 210 Taunton Ave., East Providence, followed by a funeral service at 10 AM in the Church of The Epiphany, 1336 Pawtucket Ave., Rumford. Calling hours are Thursday, 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Southcoast Hospice, 28 Sconticut Neck Road, Fairhaven, MA 02719.

To the Tierney/Whitford families, the loss of someone close is always difficult to bear, but the sorrow that you feel is a sorrow that many share, so may it comfort you to know how very much others do care.
We are so sorry that we were unable to attend the services for Flo, however we wish to tell you that our thoughts and prayers have been with you during these difficult times. God Bless you all!

Flo was one of my mentors early in my nursing career at Memorial. She has always held an important place in my heart. She was a very special person! I am so sorry for your lose.

Auntie Flo personifies the celebration of life to me. She helped to bring Emma into this world and has always shared in the joy of her. We will continue in her steps and celebrate life each and every moment. Love you Auntie Flo!
