Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Cain Family. I had Mr. Cain for 8th grade Geography at the Wickford Jr. High School, the only Jr. High in N.K. at that time. Mr. Cain always captured our attention, made learning so much fun, and gave us tricks for learning all the geographical regions of the country that I have never forgotten! For example, "the western part of the U.S. is high, dry, and scenic like a martini!" We had to do lengthy, research papers and he taught us how to pace our assignment time by having us turn in index cards along the way. He taught us how to do footnotes using opcit and ibid which prepared us wonderfully for all future research papers in H.S. and College. Frank loved to come to our H.S. reunions with his old grade books and reminisce with us! He will be sorely missed!

My brother and I had Mr. Cain as our teacher in 8th grade in the 1980's. What fond memories we have! He made 8th grade fun. He is among only a few very inspiring educators we encountered during our years in the N. Kingstown school system. We are fortunate to have known him. He was such a bright star!!! "Mister Cain" inspired confidence, never gave false praise, and made the subjects he taught come alive for all of us. He was the first educator I ever felt spoke to us as a "real people", making the unbearable turmoil of being 13 years old actually tolerable. A great gift to have known him even for such a short time all those years ago: the memories are so strong they will be with me my whole life.

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Cain. I had some great teachers in NK but Mr. Cain was truly one of the greatest. I will always remember 8th grade geography and all the stories he told us about the places he had seen in the US. He had a great way of relating to us that made us interested in learning. He will be missed by so many.
I will have you in my thoughts and prayers.

In my 12 years of schooling in the NK system, I think that Frank and Janice Cain would be on my one handed list of teachers who really stood out, taught well and made learning fun. I still sometimes hear Neil Diamond's Hot August Nights or a Stevie Wonder song and think of Frank because we would listen to music in class.
What class acts. I've seen you both around town since then and you were both always smiling and loved to catch up on us students. God bless you Mr. Cain.

Coach Cain gave me a chance when no one else did. He became more than just a coach to me during my senior year at NKHS, He was a father figure and role model as well. Coach bought me a varsity jacket with his own money and never wanted it mentioned to anyone. Coach you will always be in my heart. Mrs. Cain, you and Coach were a perfect couple and i always enjoyed running into you guys at Duffy's and sharing stories. I am now married and can only hope to have the same kind of loving relationship you two shared for so many wonderfull years. I am so sorry for your loss and know you are loved by so many. ~Mike Florio

Though I am now 55 I could never address him as anything but "Mr. Cain". When I became a teacher, later in life, it was his social studies class that I remember as a learning environment I wanted to replicate. He will be missed but his legacy will live on through his students. i was luck enough to have him as my 7th grade teacher in '68-'69 at DMS.

To the Cain family, I was lucky enough to have been in Mr. Cain's Geography class way back in 1965. He was the coolest teacher I ever had... so cool that I decided I wanted to be like Mr. Cain! I just retired from 30 great years as a social studies teacher in Atlanta, Ga. Thanks Mr. Cain.
