76 passed away peacefully on May 5, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He was the loving husband of Bettina (Miraglia) Crisafulli; they had been married for 53 years. Born in New York, he was the son of the late Santo and Pauline (Birrittella) Crisafulli.
Dr. Crisafulli was a graduate of NYU Medical School and held numerous leadership positions at the Miriam Hospital. He practiced medicine locally for 40 years, during which time he was honored to care for generations of patients and to serve as a clinical teacher to Brown University medical students. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Crisafulli received numerous awards, including the Irving Addison Beck Laureate Lifetime Achievement Award of the American College of Physicians. To all who knew him, he was a trusted consigliere, a philosopher, and a Renaissance man who loved all things Italian. This man was like a father to me not only my primary care physician but also on the Board of Directors when I worked at Health Care Review Inc. in the early 90s. He took such good care of me I will never ever forget this kind, caring man. He also helped my father by identifying his prostate cancer early on. My deepest sympathy to his wife, children, and grandchild. May you rest in peace and I will never forget you! Love and Prayers, Cathy Bellows (Pariseau)

To Dr.Crisafulli's family,

I learned of this wonderful man's passing only this morning and I am absolutely heart broken. This was a prince among men and a doctor like no other. Dr. Fred treated both me and my mom with such care. He was a throw back to a time when doctors treated their patients like they were family. He was the only doctor I have known in my 81 years who could diagnose by using his wonderful mind before utilizing all of the medical tools available. Brilliant, kind, caring, and too good to be gone. I have missed him so much since he retired and I am so sorry he did not have a longer time to enjoy his retirement and the family he so lovingly spoke about.

Fred was the kindest, smartest .most wonderful, gentle, modest human being, a superb doctor and friend. He was always there for our family- gave so much and expected nothing. I cannot imagine the world without him. I wish you, Bettina, and the whole family peace in the days ahead. What wonderful memories we have of times spent with him. Harold loved him a lot as well. They are both resting in heaven. Love to you from Ada

Fred was the KINDEST, smartest, most loving family friend, confidant, advisor, doctor anyone could ever have. I feel so lucky that he was that to me and my family. I called on him in many a crisis, and always found a warm, calm voice on the other end of the phone. He listened deeply and gave sage advice - directly, simply, in steps that I could understand and follow - even when I was desperately worried and not operating on all cylinders.

Fred was also the LIVELIEST person I've ever met! How can it be, Fred? You, too, were mortal?

Your smile, your twinkling eyes, hearty laugh and warm, calm wise voice are not gone for me - I see and hear you still!

Go with G-d, good friend!

Love and sympathy - Nancy

I am saddened to learn of the passing of "THE DOC". In my opinion, he was a "Prince Among MEN" He was a Masonic Brother. I have always enjoyed my time with the Doc since I interviewed him for REDWOOD LODGE. Which by the way, was one of my most enjoyable. My sincere condolences to Bettina and the family.

Tina and Family, I share with you a poem that was shared with me at a time of loss and I pay it forward.DEATH IS NOTHING

Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way, which you always used. Put no difference in your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, and pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is an absolute unbroken continuity. What is Death but a negligent accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well .
