For fifty years George Ryan has been for me a mentor, adviser, teacher, friend, source of much laughter, a great dinner partner and a gracious gentleman. He gave me the fundamentals of the record business, open doors, and then reopened them again for me.

He did the same for so many other record businessmen and women. George said many times that those who did not assist, train and develop their employees were simply afraid of their jobs. Growing people was his second profession.

There is an exceptional list of recording artist for CBS records who knew that they had in Boston not just a dedicated professional caring for their music but a friend.

His memory will continue to be a special part of my life

We will miss George. He was a wonderful man. He was a longtime customer at Dad's Place in Narragansett, that's where we first met him, and Terry. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family, and Helen.
