George Santopietro Obituary

SANTOPIETRO, GEORGE, 89 passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Miriam Hospital. He was the loving and devoted husband of Lillian (Canzano) Santopietro. They were happily married for 62 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Luigi and Adelina (Marcello) Santopietro. Mr. Santopietro was employed as a Superintendent for the Imperial Pearl for 33 years and also as a Constable for 20 years before his retirement. He served with distinction in the 8th Air Force during WWII as an Arial Engineer. Besides his wife he is survived by his loving son, George L. Santopietro, Esq., and his wife Meryl of Lincoln; three cherished granddaughters, Laura Santopietro of Lincoln, Joy Santopietro-DiNapoli, Esq., and her husband Jeffery of New York City and Alessandra Santopietro of New York City. He is also survived by sisters, Evelyn Verdi, Anna Lapati, Lena Lapati and Dolores Caliri. He was predeceased by a brother, Louis Santopietro Jr., and two sisters, Elizabeth Verdi and Gloria D'Itri. His funeral will be held Saturday at 9am from the A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Jude Church, 301 Front St., Lincoln. Visiting hours Saturday (MORNING) 8-9am. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Kindly omit flowers. www.marianiandson.com
