Herbert Baker Obituary
Passed away peacefully November 27 in Ocala, Florida after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Providence, he was the son of Herbert and Elizabeth Baker. He is survived by his former wife Janette, son Wilson, daughter-in-law Anna, and grandsons Jovani and Khalil, as well as his four siblings Dinah, Martha, Mary, and Kevin, and his beloved dog Benny.
An Army veteran, he served during Vietnam and was truly appreciative of the care he received from the VA and it's staff in the last days of his life.
Butch grew up in Barrington, attended BHS and graduated from JWU. He came back to visit Barrington often, but was a true rolling stone; moving around the country endlessly, including a solo cross country bicycle trip from Seattle to RI just 7 years ago, followed by a Mexico to Canada bike ride 2 years later.
He spent several years commercial fishing in Alaska, many years on the Oregon coast in the construction business, and the last few years in Humbolt County CA in the agricultural sector.
Butch had a lifelong love of sports and followed the Celts, Pats, and Sox fanatically no matter where he was living. Most of all Butch will be remembered as a legendary storyteller, true character, and the funniest person you ever met in your life. A memorial of some sort is being planned for Spring.

I haven't seen Butch since we graduated from Barrington High School, I remember Butch as a funny guy, who could put a smile on anyone's face. Butch also had a great laugh and smile. I want to
express my sincere condolences to Butch's family.
