Joseph Cordeiro Obituary
He graduated from college in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Azores, prior to coming to the United States in 1965. He became a U.S. citizen in 1968. He was a flight engineer in the Portuguese Air Force for 5 years. Mr. Cordeiro was employed by Ford Motor Co. and earned the prestigious Ford 500 Club Member Award for 4 consecutive years. He then went on to become founder and owner of Cordeiro Auto Sales located in East Providence, RI in 1974. He operated his business for 33 years until the day of his illness. His son Robert Cordeiro continues to maintain and operate Cordeiro Auto Sales. He was a very well respected and beloved member of the community in the East Bay area and will be greatly missed by all.
Besides his wife of 42 years, he is survived by his children; Leonard M. Cordeiro of Johnston, Robert S. Cordeiro and Linda M. Cordeiro both of Cranston, Tina L. Asadorian of No. Kingstown, his 2 grandsons; Mark W. Asadorian Jr. and Daniel L. Cordeiro. He was the brother of Lidia Gouveia, Evelina Melo and Eduarda daLuz and leaves many nieces and nephews all of Toronto, Canada. He was the brother of the late Maria Grilo.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 8:45AM from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME 901 Broadway East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM in Our Lady of The Rosary Church Traverse St. Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8PM.
