Joshua Barber Obituary
of Bristol, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 31, 2010.
Born in Norwich, CT, he was the beloved son of John A. and Darla M. (Snow) Barber of Jamestown, and brother of Magdalena S. Barber of East Greenwich. Josh graduated from, and played hockey for, LaSalle Academy.
He was a technical specialist at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center. A musician and artist, Josh enjoyed playing guitar with his award winning band Smokestack Lightnin'.
Besides his parents and sister, he leaves his Yia-Yia, Anastasia Barber of Jamestown; many aunts, uncles and cousins, and his "wingman" Austin. He was the grandson of the late Charles Barber, Richard Snow, Sr. and Doris F. Snow.
His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 10am at Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home. Visiting hours Monday
5-7pm in the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, RI. Memorial contributions can be made to www.hopefordepression.org.

I thought of Josh the other night as I sat on the Ganny listening to the the Teledynes. On the wall next to our table was memorabilia and photos of Josh. Not a day goes by that you don´t cross my mind. A memory from childhood or our young adult life. No matter what it is, it fills my heart with warmth and I smile. I remember no one made me laugh the way you could. We would laugh so hard we would cry. I am wrapping your beautiful family in my prayers. Love you Josh. Always have, always will.

We were truly blessed that we had such great times with Josh......those are the memories that I go to almost daily.....something so small triggers a memory that just causes this smile to come to my face...and right there and then I know it's Josh...he is with us, always....I can't explain it - I just want you to know that we love you very much and consider ourselves very blessed to have had such a connection to him. I tell him all the time how much he is loved and missed and I know he knows!

Dear John, Darla , Maggie and family,
I have been re-visiting all the memories I have of Josh mostly as a little guy when I visited you in CT....the day I was holding him and he threw the golfball at my head ....pushing him in the swing in your yard.... going to Tracy's and he threw up in my car.... going shopping and he didn't want to get in his car seat...the list goes on. I enjoyed those visits and am so grateful for them. It was so good to see him again this past winter in Fryeburg, playing his guitar with the Snow family musicians. What a gem.

I'm deeply saddened by the news of Josh's passing. I played with Josh a few times when I lived in Rhode Island. A true talent and a great person! My wife took his promo pictures that he was so proud of. My family's thoughts and prayers are with your family while you morn this tragic time. It was with great sadness that I heard about Josh`s passing. I´m from Brazil and I kept with him for so long a virtual friendship that we had related to the admiration by Doyle Bramhall ll. After a long time of friendly online acquaintance, we met Josh at a concert that Doyle Bramhall II was playing at with Eric Clapton, at the Mohegan Sun. For a parent, the death of a child is the most difficult tragedy to understand because children are supposed to outlive them. May you find comfort from family and friends; may your pain be replaced with the fond memories you have of Josh and may the love you shared during his lifetime sustain you. He will be missed.

Dearest Johnny, Darla, and Maggie,
I wish that I could say something "new", words that could help ease the pain that is simply unfathomable to me.
Although our visits were too few and far between, the times we did share leave me with fond memories. I never really got to know Josh, however, my heart knows no difference from a parent's perspective.
We are having a Memorial for Josh at my Church tomorrow. I hope you find comfort in knowing that hundreds will be praying for his soul and your well being.

I had the great opportunity of meeting Josh at Mary and Steve's house a number of years back when his band played during Bike Week in Weirs Beach.
