June Irish Obituary

IRISH, JUNE C. (KENDALL), 90, of Norwood Ave., died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, in the Scandinavian Home, Cranston. She was the widow of Thomas P. Irish. Mrs. Irish was born in Providence, a daughter of the late Edward & Bessie (Thornton) Kendall and had been a lifetime resident of Warwick. She was a graduate of the Roger Williams Medical Center School of Nursing with an RN Degree and worked as a registered nurse at Rhode Island Hospital, Jane Brown Unit, until her retirement in 1982. She also was a private duty nurse for the Gerry family in RI. For many years earlier in her life was an active member of the Norwood Baptist Church in Warwick and helped start the Norwood Shelter in Warwick. She is survived by two daughters, Michelle Hanson and her husband Bruce of Warwick, Pamela Mangano and her husband Frank of Quinette, GA and her son Robert H. Carr and his wife Emily of Saunderstown, RI. She was the mother of her late son Thomas Irish, and sister of the late Inez Rathbun and Edward Kendall. Funeral service Tuesday June 28, 2011, at 10 am in the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick. Calling hours Monday 6-8 pm. Interment will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI. I am so sorry to Hear about Aunt June. I have the fondest memories of bumping into her and Uncle Tommy in the strangest places. She was always so sweet and full of life. The thoughts and prayers of my family are with you all.

'June-a-bee' was a lovely lady. She always had a kind word for everyone. She also had a twinkle in her eye that could not be missed. She and my mother were great traveling companions. I'm sure there were stories of their adventures that they left untold.
