Nancy C. Swanson

SWANSON, NANCY C., 78, of 1106 East Shore Rd., died February 12 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Robert G. 'Gerry' Swanson.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Lucille (Lind) and Robert, Cook of Cranston. She was a graduate of Pembroke College, Brown University, class of 1951. She and her husband owned and operated Swanholme Farm, a dairy farm in North Kingstown, for 35 years until 1986. She and Gerry were enthusiastic sailors, cruising Narragansett Bay and occasionally as far as Nantucket and Provincetown. She was an avid potter, dog lover, bird watcher, gardener, beach lover, geneologist and had a keen interest in New England history. She served on the North Kingstown School Committee, and was very active in local Republican politics and agricultural organizations.

She is survived by her sister, Bette-Lou Mahon of East Lyme, CT., her children, Robert Swanson and his companion Patricia Smith of Richmond, Martha Neale and her husband George of Jamestown, Eric Swanson and his wife Lisa of Matunuck. She was the beloved 'Grandma Ba' to her nine grandchildren: Robert and Everett Swanson; Cory, Tucker, Hadley and Chandler Neale; and Winfield, Elinor and Clark Swanson.

Friends and relatives are invited to a celebration of her life, which will be held at her home in Jamestown on Sunday, March 9, from 2-5 PM. Donations to the R.I. Audubon Society or South County Art Association in her memory will be greatly appreciated.
