Nicholas Phelan Obituary

PHELAN, NICHOLAS M. JR. 68, died Saturday, August 16, 2014 in Ft. Wayne, IN. Born in New York, the son of the late Nicholas M. and Grace T. (Peisel) Phelan, he had been a resident of Warwick before moving to Indiana 40 years ago. Mr. Phelan served as a Deputy US Marshall for 20 years and had served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion. He leaves two sons, David Lapadot and his wife, Kelly, of Waterloo, IN and Patrick Phelan of Florence, KY and his grandchildren, Emma and Aiden Lapadot. He is also survived by his sister, Grace T. Phelan of Bellingham, WA and her husband, David Harris, and their children, Colin and Nicole Harris. A 1967 graduate of Providence College, he spoke several languages fluently. Nicholas will be remembered as a kind and generous friend to all. His funeral will be private and visiting hours are respectfully omitted. To Nick's family...so sorry to hear of his passing. Nick and I worked together many years ago and I remember he was the kind of guy who would do anything for you. And a real character. A great guy. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry to hear of Nick's passing. He escorted me to a dance at my school (St. Charles) in Providence when we were both 17 years old. My Mom worked with his Mom, Grace, in Garden City.
