Norma Kowal Obituary

KOWAL, NORMA M., (BROWN)
age 86, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2021 with both of her sons by her side.
Born in the middle of the Great Depression, Norma was the third of four daughters to Thomas and Mayola Brown. She grew up in a little white house on Main Street in West Warwick, forging a bond with her beloved three sisters who would prove to become her truest and dearest lifetime friends
A lifelong resident of Rhode Island, Norma attended West Warwick High School, graduating in the Class of 1952. She married Frank Kowal in April of 1955 and soon after they began their family. They raised their five children, three daughters and two sons, in Coventry. Norma was a woman of eclectic interests - the ocean, art, Elvis, gardening and chocolate - yet there was nothing she cherished more dearly than her family.
Norma had a knack for writing poetry, working and reworking her poems over the course of decades, resulting in a collection which ultimately represents her life story. A devout Christian, Norma lived her faith in a steadfast pursuit of a greater reward awaiting her. Non-judgmental by nature, she always looked to see the good in all people and her kind heart never failed to assist anyone in need. Her beautiful blue eyes, helping hands and fun spirit will be forever missed by all those who loved her.
Norma is survived by her five children, Ellenanne Jones (Alan) of Wesley Chapel Florida, Thomas Kowal (Linda) of North Providence, Alyson Medlin (Frankie) of Wesley Chapel Florida, Jamie Clark (Mitch) of San Ramon California, John Kowal (Kim) of Southlake Texas; her nine grandchildren Jason, Brendan, Jamie, Katie, Hailey, Peter, Nicky, Brooks and Jacoby, great grandson Harrison and sisters Barbara Pancarowicz of Warwick and Jackie Rita of West Warwick. She is predeceased by her parents, Tom and Mayola Brown of West Warwick, her husband Frank and sister Eileen Grenier.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 10:00-11:00 am in the Church of the Apostles, 170 Fairview Avenue, Coventry followed by a service at 11:00 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in her memory would be appreciated. jamie, emma, alison, tom, and john. i am so sorry to hear that Norma has passed from this earth. Norma and I shared so many conversations early in the morning when everybody else was still sleeping. She was a delight to be around and such a beautiful person to have experienced in ones life. She is one of the best personalities that I have experienced in my life. I am so sorry for your loss of her vitality, passion, and commitment to love. She loved all of you so much, please remember how much she loved you and try to live up to her love for you. Please remember her forever in your thoughts, I will never forget her and her impact on me. Much love to your family!

Ellen, Tom, Alyson, Jamie and Johnny, so sorry to hear of Aunt Norma's passing. She was a wonderful, kind, gentle and caring person. I remember all the good times I spent over at your home growing up. She also loved spending time with my mother and talking and remembering about the old days. She will be missed by all

Over the past few years, I went to several of Mrs. Kowal’s birthday parties. I remember, each time she greeted me with a smile, and always wanted to know how my family was doing. She was a very kind person who set a better example for the rest of us. My condolences to the family.

It's with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to a special lady. "Normie" as family called her was kind, empathetic, and loving. She always went above and beyond. If you needed her, she was there before you asked. Normie was a great listener, and always looked on the bright side. It's with a heavy heart we say goodbye, but with a full heart we will always treasure her memory.
