Robert Turcotte Obituary
Cumberland,
Robert A. Turcotte, 78 passed away on Monday in Cumberland, RI. He was the loving husband of Linda (Chisholm) Turcotte.
Born in Woonsocket, RI., he was the son of the former Woonsocket Police Chief the late Edgar C. Turcotte Sr. and Violette (Renaud) Turcotte. He resided in Cumberland for the past 12 years. Previously residing in Woonsocket for 66 years.
Mr. Turcotte was a former lector and president of St. Joseph Parish Council, Woonsocket. He was Umpire-In-Chief of the East Woonsocket Little League. Former member and past president of the Board of Directors of the former ROAD Counseling, Woonsocket. A former member, past president and a Paul Harris Fellow of the Woonsocket Rotary Club.
He was the former Woonsocket Public Safety Director from 1984 to 1989.
He was an avid fan of the New England Sports Teams and NASCAR.
He was a 1956 graduate of Woonsocket High School and a 1961 graduate of Providence College where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree.
Mr. Turcotte was a probation and parole officer for the State of Rhode Island for more than 30 years. Previously worked for the State of Rhode Island as a Counselor with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Besides his wife he is survived by his three daughters; Anne-Marie Speroni and her husband Jim of Cumberland, Paula (Chub) Turcotte of Woonsocket and Laura Gelnett and her wife Kristi of Warren. One daughter in law Sharon Turcotte of Holliston, MA. Two sisters; Jeannine Savignac of Johnston and Colette Pincince of Cumberland. One brother Leo Turcotte of Norton, MA. Four grandchildren; Marissa Brodeur, Christina Speroni, Max Turcotte and Abby Turcotte. Two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Robert M. Turcotte and the brother of the late Edgar C. Turcotte Jr.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Robert's Life Celebration beginning with Calling Hours on Friday from 4 PM to 8 PM.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph Church, 1200 Mendon Road Woonsocket. Burial will follow in the Inman Family Cemetery, Nasonville, RI.

My deepest sympathies on the loss of Bob. I worked under Bob during his tenure as Woonsocket Public Safety Director and would occasionally chat with Bob in his later years at Al's Package Store in Woonsocket. It was always a pleasure.
