Dear Blount kids,
How your mom kept the five of you in line after your Dad went to Heaven, I will never know. She was always such a graceful, loving woman. In the early years of DCA she cared for all of us. Praise God, she is now in His presence and and with your dad.

Thank You Grandma for showing me a life of selflessness. You never sought or wanted praise for your generous heart weather you gave of your time or gave of your of your money to help others. You did it without wanting praise in return. You were devoted to God, You husband, Family and beloved Red Sox. No matter what happened nothing seemed to shake your Faith and devotion to these. I am forever grateful for the legacy you left me and the rest of our family. My life would not be what it is today without you.
I only pray I can finish my life of Faith as well as you did. I can't wait to meet you again in Heaven. Looking forward to being reunited with you, Grandpa, My daughter Ivana and all those who went on before me. Until we meet again, Love Granddaughter

She was a true believer. We who were able to know her were blessed. She did her best to make this world a better place while she was waiting to go home. I pray God's comfort for you all.

Dear Bill and Family,
While watching Wheel of Fortune, I saw that a contestant won a cruise on a Blount cruise line, and I thought of you. I was sorry to see that your mom died just a couple days ago, but you were fortunate to have her for so many years. May the Lord comfort you, as you now realize heaven is a little sweeter. Also glad to see that you are serving the Lord in such a great way.
In Christ,
Helene Lawrence Hammond

Dear Blount Family:
As I told Bill, you are blessed beyond measure that God gave you such a godly Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Ruth Blount was a true servant of Jesus and she taught each of you, as well as all who knew her, to love her Lord as well. Carry on her legacy knowing that Jesus is holding all of you in His loving arms during these difficult days thru prayers of your family and friends. We are so thankful to have known Ruth and to be in the greater circle of friends.
With Love,
Susan Blount

Ruth always thought she was living in the shadow of her very popular husband. She never considered herself to be as important as Nelson was, but in our eyes that was not true.
Cheers to her for devoting so much of her life as a widow to corresponding with the many people who were influenced by Nelson and the book Man From Steamtown. Even to this day, 45 years after his death, we still meet people who found Jesus because of Nelson and Ruth's story.
I will miss her laugh and all her stories. Her life seemed like a fairy tale in many ways because she grew up in privilege. It was fun to visit that world now and again with her. I'm pretty sure that the people who wrote Driving Miss Daisy were thinking of Ruth's mom and the house on Poppasquash Road.
It was long after I knew her that I knew about her privileged upbringing. I would have never guessed. She drove a modest car and lived in a simple but lovely home. She cheerfully shared her resources with others and with many organizations.
Nothing kept Grandma from supporting her beloved Red Sox. She loved them no matter what.
I know there will be a big gap in the Blount family now. She has left a legacy to all of us who knew her.
My condolances to all the family - especially the grands and great-grands who brought her such joy and vice versa. See you soon, Ruth.
