Born in Providence, he was the son of Evelyn D.
(Rastelli)
Gemma and the late
Stephen J. Gemma, Sr. and had been the husband of Sandra L. (Medeiros) Gemma for 20 years.
Stephen was the brother of Joseph A. Gemma and his wife, Joanne and Robert M. Gemma, Sr. and his wife, Diane; uncle of six nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, 5-8 p.m. with a funeral on Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, with interment to follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd, Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886. To express your condolences through our online guestbook, visit

Dear Sandy, Evelyn, Joe, Robert and families,
Michael and I were so sorry to learn of Steve's passing, not having known of his illness.
We will always remember him with a smile and a ready laugh, helping whomever he could. I know your losses are great, but he is reunited with his father where they will enjoy each other until we all meet again. May God Bless you in your grief, and comfort you in your sorrow.

Sandy....There are no words to express our thoughts about Steve. He was a great neighbor and so many happy memories....couch party...or when I worked in the yard and was all sweaty he'd say "your're doing a great job" and he would watch me work and the time he dug 3 feet to pull out my bush. Always that silly grin on his face. Know that we are here to help with whatever you need and most of all to just listen. He will be missed by all of us. You did an excellent job taking care of Steve during his illness.

Dear Evelyn, so sorry to read the news of Stephen Jr. Cancer is so cruel to so many families. Our son's wife Deb (40yrs) was just given the news for Breast
Cancer and will rec. surgery next week. Stephen will be added to our Prayer
