Terri Ficca Obituary
FICCA, TERRI ANN 47, of Providence Pike, No. Smithfield died Monday September 24, 2007 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. Born in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of Dolores (Lefebvre) Ficca of No. Smithfield and the late Anthony P. Ficca.
She lived most of her life in Woonsocket, where she graduated from high school in 1978, before moving to No. Smithfield in 2005. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Outdoor Recreation from the University of Maine at Presque Isle, and received her teaching certificate in Elementary Education at Roger Williams University. She was presently pursuing a Master's Degree in Elementary Education.
An elementary school teacher in the Woonsocket School Dept., she was currently teaching third grade at Globe Park School where Miss Ficca was loved by her students and co-workers and will be greatly missed. She also worked for many years at Eastern Mountain Sports and was well known for her outdoor educational seminars for the company. In keeping with her adventuresome spirit, Terri enjoyed camping, kayaking and hiking which included most of the Appalachian Trail. A active volunteer, she trained area Boy Scouts, coached Woonsocket Softball for 12 years, participated in the Globe Park Parent Teacher Association and was a member of Big Sisters of America. She also loved golfing and her two pets: Talkeetna and Maka.
Besides her mother, she is survived by a sister, Christine Belisle and her husband Normand of Spring Hill, FL, and two brothers, Thomas Ficca and his wife Ann Marie of No. Smithfield and Anthony Ficca, II and his wife Janet of Norfolk, VA. A beloved aunt, 'T' also leaves her nieces and nephews, Bethany Leduc, Aimee Kenyon, Gary, Melissa, Emily, Robert and Jacob Ficca.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, MA.
