Vincenza Mignella Obituary

MIGNELLA, VINCENZA CLORINDA (IANNETTA), 86, formerly of Dante Street, Providence, passed into a peaceful rest. She was the devoted wife of the late Lucien F. Mignella for 64 years.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Benedetto and Sylvia (Centracchio) Iannetta.

Mrs. Mignella was a parishioner of St. Ann's Church and a member of the St. Ann's School Women's Guild. She founded the Wanskuck Wonders Group that met weekly in the Wanskuck Boy's Club. On Saturdays, she also held 4H meetings there where she would teach young girls how to sew and other useful skills. Vincenza was involved with the University of Rhode Island Extension Service for Homemakers. She partnered with her husband, Lucien, in charity work and raised funds along with the members of the Bouffard Council of the Knights of Columbus for needy children.

Vincenza was a woman devoted to her religion, family and friends. In addition, she is survived by three daughters, Lucille Johnson and her husband Alvin of North Providence, Sandra Healy and her husband Michael of Warwick, and Donna Mignella and her husband Christopher Smeraldi of Jamestown. She was a very proud grandmother of four, Craig and Seth Johnson, Kristen Pratt and Michael Healy. She has three great-grandchildren, Jasper and Bronwyn Johnson and Lilly Marie Pratt. She was the dear sister of Margaret De Lucia, Dora Troia and the late Anna Salvatore, Angelo, Anthony and Dr. Albert Iannetta.

Visitation will be held Friday, 5 to8 p.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 9 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 169 George Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860-9924. To express your condolences through our online guestbook, visit www.mem.com

To the family of Vincenza Mignella
My condolences to you. You do not know me--I am Anthony J. Mignella of Bridgewater NJ. We all must be related. My grandmother, Ida Mignella (Iannetta) died in 2003. This is too much of a coincidence--her mother's maiden name was also Iannetta! Is your family from Boiano. Any family tree history please contact me at [email protected].

To Lucille, Sandra and Donna...Please accept my sincere condolences upon the passing of your mother. I will hold dear the memories I have of your mom. Among them is the time she made a long coat for me to wear over a prom gown...Please know that although I cannot be there for the services, you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
