Walter Barnes Obituary
79, of Cranston, passed away on Monday December 24, 2018 at Miriam Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Testa) Barnes. Born in Cranston he was the son of the late Walter T. and Mary (Peter) Barnes. Walter worked for the State of RI at RI College as the campus mailman.
Besides his wife he was the dear brother in law of Jesse and Marcia Gomez and loving uncle to Patricia Gomez, Jesse P. Gomez and David J. Gomez.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave. Cranston on Saturday December 29, 2018 at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church 1525 Cranston St. Cranston at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to you charity of choice.

Dear Aunt Patti: I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle Walter. I have the fondest memories of you 2 when I was a kid. Uncle Walter was my Godfather. I posted a picture of you 2 at my christening on this page. Uncle Walter was also my sponsor when I was confirmed at age 17. I will always remember his laugh. His laugh was the best and it was LOUD! It would shake a room. I remember the parties we used to have and when you guys would babysit me when I was a kid. I remember going to the baseball games to watch Uncle Walter umpire the games. He was a great man. I am so so sorry for your loss and that I could not be there for you today. You are in my daily thoughts and prayers.

Dear Pat and family,
Anna, Peter, Nancy, Raymond, Sylvia and I extend our deepest condolences, on Walter's passing.
He was a remarkable, cordial, warm and sincere being, who smiled warmly, and was a true gentleman.
We will miss his presence, and we will always recall his love of Italy, and especially its fresh, sweet tomatoes, which he relished with such pleasure, at every dinner table, as we traveled together some years ago.
Walter was a star football player at Cranston High School, and an amiable classmate to many fellow students.
Whenever, we had occasion to share dinner, and other social events, his warmth and sincerity were luminous.

To Walter's Family please accept my sincere condolences of Walter's passing. I met Walter in high school, Cranston , now Cranston East. He was a good classmate, we were in the same graduating class "Class of 57".He had a great personality and good sense of humor, We had many good memories through the three years of high school. Walter may you rest in peace. God Bless.
