WALTER BOROWSKI Obituary

BOROWSKI, WALTER J. 'SONNY', 83, of Pawtuxet Terrace, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Kent Hospital with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Loretta (Jendzejec) Borowski.

A lifelong resident of West Warwick, he was a son of the late Edward 'Chief' and Anna (Begos) Borowski.

Sonny owned and operated Borowski's Cafe on Main Street in West Warwick for 50 years before retiring. An Army veteran of WWII, he was a member of the West Warwick Elks and former member of the Crompton Vets and the Liquor Dealer's Association.

He is survived by a son, Edward Borowski and his wife Kathleen; a daughter, Diane F. Chauvette and her late husband William, all of West Warwick; four sisters, Jenny Lachance, Mary Greene and Mildred Dauksis, all of West Warwick and Helen Jagielo of Cumberland; six grandchildren, Derek Chauvette, Nicole Garofalo, Danielle Motta, Courtney Chauvette, Melissa and Maegan Borowski and seven great-grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Edna Chilauskas and Madeline Borowski.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, Coventry. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, West Warwick. Visiting hours respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dialysis Patient Assistance Fund of Warwick, c/o Diane Stein, 23 Larkspur Rd., Warwick, RI 02886-1922 would be appreciated. Arrangements by the R.A. Uncle Sonny was a great guy... he always made me laugh when I used to hear him say " This man from Crompton" and go on telling his silly bar stories to my parents... good times.. good memories.
