Betty Menhorn Obituary
Chambersburg
Betty S. Menhorn, 91, died April 2, 2017 at Providence Place Retirement Home where she had resided since 2008. Born in Peters Township in 1925, she was the daughter of the late Roy F. and Alberta Anderson Stouffer. Betty was a 1944 graduate of the former St. Thomas High School and Indiana University of PA, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics Education. She taught Home Ec. for 34 years in two different schools in the state: Berlin Brothersvalley High School in Berlin, and James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg. In both schools she sponsored FHA clubs and took students to the State Farm Show each year where they displayed individual window exhibits and did demonstrations. She took students to the Farm Show 29 years in succession.
Mrs. Menhorn was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran of Chambersburg, where she was active with the WELCA and the decorating committee.
She is survived by a sister, Naomi Walker of Chambersburg; a brother, John Stouffer of Hagerstown; and five nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at First Lutheran Church, 43 W. Washington St., Chambersburg, PA 17201, Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 1-4 p.m.

We were so sorry to hear of Betty's passing. She was a good friend to Loraine (Huston) our mother and we appreciated all the good times they had together. She was a great teacher, as I did an internship with her when I was in college for Home Economics myself. She had a wonderful laugh and sense of humor. She will be missed.
