Michael J. Cassidy Michael J. Cassidy, age 60 of Newville, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014. He was born Thursday, April 8, 1954 in Chambersburg, the son of the late Herbert R. and Shirley (Ulsh) Cassidy, Sr. Mike graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1972. He attended Penn State Mont Alto and Shippensburg University. Mike started his business career by opening The Keg on Walnut Bottom Road. He and wife Julie then went into G&C Associates real estate investment and development. He was a former captain at West End Fire and Rescue and later went on to become the first EMT in Shippensburg. He was former president of C.F.J.M.A. He was a founding member of the Mid-Penn Motion AAU Basketball team. He was a former coach of the undefeated Hub City Steelers Midget football team, where he is still an active member. Mike was co-owner of Rillo's Restaurant in Carlisle and a partner in Commerce Carwash in Shippensburg. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Camp Hill. He was a member of Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Julie A. (Trindel) Cassidy. He is also survived by a daughter, Jennifer L. Cassidy-Serino and her husband Adam, a son, M. Christopher Cassidy and fiancee Amanda Fordney, grandson Luke Serino, and one brother, Herbert R. Cassidy, Jr., all of Shippensburg. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 16 at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, 305 N. Prince St, Shippensburg with Rev. Fr. Dwight Schlaline officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, August 15 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Dr., Shippensburg. A viewing will also be held on Saturday at the church from 12:00 noon until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike's name to Trinity High School Scholarship Fund, 3601 Simpson Ferry Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011 Attention: Janet Quigley.
