Virgil Love Crane Virgil Love Crane, of York, 77, entered into rest Saturday, December 20, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Rose E. (Sloat) Crane. They were together 42 years and celebrated 37 years of marriage on December 3, 2014. Born May 6, 1937, in Dover, Virgil was a son of the late Delbert D. "Jack" and Courtney P. (Miller) Crane. He was an owner of Crane/Sloat Turkey Farm and was previously employed by McKay Chain Co., Don's Auto Sales, and York Federal Bank/ Santander Bank. Virgil was a member of West York VFW Post 8951; Shiloh American Legion Post 791; Moose Lodge 842, Chambersburg; Marine Corps League, Chambersburg; and the Hawks Gunning Club, York. He was a former member of the York Motorcycle Club. Virgil was an avid hunter. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Diane Love Kurz and husband, Tom of Newport News, Va.; Nadine Ann Steele of Williamsburg, Va.; Tina Mae Holman and husband, Steven of York; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and eight siblings, Ralph Crane of Florida, Houston Crane and Andy Crane, Sr., both of Dover, Gilford Crane of Florida, Cricket Smeltzer of New Cumberland, Faye Zinn of York, Carson Crane of East Berlin, and Debbie Hockman of King of Prussia. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Virgil's funeral at 12 noon and the viewing from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Suburban Memorial Gardens, Dover. Officiating will be the Rev. Brian Markle, pastor of Shippensburg Church of the Brethren.
