Betty Cessna Obituary
The daughter of James L. and Ethel White, she was born on Aug. 17, 1927, in Burnside.
On Aug. 2, 1947, Betty married Wendell B. Cessna, and they shared over 40 years together before his death on May 17, 1988.
Prior to retirement, she had been employed as a cook at the Purchase Line High School Cafeteria.
Betty was a longtime member of the Glen Campbell United Methodist Church, the Woodlawn Chapter No. 164 of the Eastern Star and the Glen Campbell American Legion Auxiliary.
Betty loved playing bingo and for years regularly attended two local bingo venues each week. One of her favorite pastimes was completing jigsaw puzzles.
She thoroughly loved watching the birds and tending to her flower gardens, where she was known for growing hundreds of beautiful gladiolas.
Surviving are her four children, Richard Cessna of Punxsutawney, Denny Cessna of Glen Campbell, Robert Cessna and wife Debbie of Glen Campbell, and Cindy Cameron and husband Jeff of Rossiter; her nine grandchildren, Jeffrey, Chad, Randy, Jason, Eric, Keri, Jimmy, Kenny and Kevin; her 17 great-grandchildren, Maliana, Keaton, Bella, Caden, Rhett, Shep, Scott, Lydia, Olivia, Katie, Kellan, Christian, Peyton, Camryn, Miles, Joshua and Zachary; and her sister, Nellie Loftus of New Brighton.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Dolly (Yeager) White; her daughter-in-law, Kathleen (Dougherty) Cessna; her nine brothers, James, Clark, Ben, Everett, Glenn, William, Leslie, Ordie and Bob; her two sisters, Dorothy and Helen; and her four stepbrothers, Elmer, Gilbert, Darrel and Walter Yeager.
Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, where a 2 p.m. funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation. Pastor Gary Sheesley will officiate. Interment will be at the Burnside Cemetery, Burnside.

I spent much of my summer high school summers at her daughter Cindy's house playing volleyball with Jeff and many others. Grandma Betty was there alot and was like a grandma to us all. She was a great lady, so kind and wonderful to all of us. Thoughts and prayers to all of her family.
