Betty Jane Hill

1935 - 2025

Betty Jane Hill, 90, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, at Embassy of Hillsdale Park in Hillsdale.
The daughter of Wilmer H. and Edna M. "Sheetzs" (Gray) Hill, she was born on April 20, 1935, in Cherry Tree.
Betty was a member of the former Church of the Nazarene in Punxsutawney, where she enjoyed volunteering with the church clothing bank.
She had been a caregiver for the Indiana Council of Aging.
Some of Betty's favorite hobbies were reading, crafting and completing puzzle books.
Most of all, Betty loved spending time with her family, especially playing games with her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Melda M. Tyger of Punxsutawney and Vesta S. Bouch of Florida, and her five grandchildren, David Wray Rickard and wife Holly of Ohio, Richard L. Outman and wife Tasha of Olean, New York, April M. Bush and husband Jeff of Punxsutawney, Cody Deyarmin of Seattle, Washington, and Gavin Bouch of Mahaffey.
Also surviving are her four great-grandchildren, Logan Hunter Bush and Bailey M. Bush, both of Punxsutawney, Serus L. Outman of Olean, New York, and Tyler Wray Rickard of Ohio, her step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Mary Hill; former husband Marlin Wray Rickard; son Sherman Wray Rickard; daughter Edna Catherine Rickard; brother David Hill; an infant brother and two sisters, Jean Mock and Dorothy Hill.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, from noon to 3 p.m., the time of the funeral service, at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale. Pastor Al Nolan will officiate.
