Carol States Obituary

Carol Jo States, 70, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital, which was her home away from home.

Over the many years, she has touched countless lives and assisted in their care while at the hospital. Outside of her career, her greatest joy came from spending time with her sisters and their children, she loved her nieces and nephews. Aside from her family, she had a huge soft spot for her cats, who were her faithful companions, she also took care of any stray animal that came her way. Carol enjoyed the simple pleasures of shopping and listening Christmas music each season.
She is survived by three sisters, Barbara (Frank) Pearce of Punxsutawney, Kathryn "Kate" Campbell of Punxsutawney and Tracy Pearce of Rossiter; nine nieces and nephews, Cherish Williams of Florida, Marcy (Nick) Gianvito of Punxsutawney, Tobie Nelson of Blairsville, Kristi (Mark) LaMorte of Home, Billy (Chris) Pearce of Rossiter, Mikey Campbell of Sykesville, Matt (Falisha) Campbell of Rossiter, Jake Pearce of Rossiter and Hannah Pearce of Rossiter.

I was truly blessed to work with Carol in the Surgical Services Department at PAH. She shared her unmatched work ethic, experience, expertise and knowledge as she trained myself and many others to work in the GI Lab. Those qualities extended to the many different areas she worked in. I always knew when Carol was there the day would go smoothly, no matter how busy. I trusted her judgment and input, always in awe of her problem solving skills.
She loved her family deeply as well as her precious fur babies...those in her home and any who showed up at her door. And the day after Thanksgiving I knew Christmas music would be playing in the GI Lab for the holiday season.
Rest in eternal comfort and peace Carol. You´re wrapped in our Heavenly Father´s loving arms. I hope you´re surrounded by all your beautiful fur babies. You´ll be deeply missed, you touched so many hearts and lives.
My deepest condolences and sympathy to the family. May your memories bring you comfort and peace.

Our dear Carol, oh how you will be missed. We had a great time working together. You taught me so much in both SPU and the GI lab. No one knew those areas like you did! I will always have special memories of the Saturdays that we spent together once a month volunteering at the spay and neuter clinics. We were able to care for and help all those kitties! Those were good times. You are one of the strongest people I know. You fought this battle with grace and never complained. You are healed now and are resting in the arms of Jesus. Until we meet again, You will be forever in my heart. May God bless your family with peace and comfort like only He can give.

My sincere condolences to the family. I work many years with Carol. She was a hard worker and did a great job in whatever tasks were assigned to her. She was a real asset to Punxsutawney Hospital. No one knew the GI lab as well as Carol. I always admired her love of animals and her cats which she took very good care of. She will be missed by all of us but many wonderful memories remain. Gods loving arms now Embrace her for eternity.
