Junior O. "O.J." James

1943 - 2025

Junior O. James, 82, a resident of Union Street, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16, at his home.
Born in Olean, May 3, 1943, he was the son of Lillian Meckley James.
He had resided in Canisteo since 1984. O.J. was employed as a custodian at the Canisteo Central School District.
He was a member of the Canisteo Wesleyan Church.
He was predeceased by his mother, and his wife Gloria James.
Surviving are children Timothy (Ginny) James of Rossiter, Darla (Gary) Carnahan of Punxsutawney and David (Jane Ann) James of Rossiter, his bonus children Deborah (Johnny) Deal of North Carolina, Rev Cheryl (Zeke) Remchuk of Texas, his sister, Clifton (Roxanne) Wright of Florida, Douglas (Stephanie) Wright of New York , a sister Nellie "Sandy" Galentine (Mike) of , 16 grand-
children, and 23 great grandchildren and three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends were invited to attend calling hours on Monday (Sept. 22, 2025) at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home 6 Spruce Street in Canisteo from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.
A Funeral Service will follow calling hours at 4 p.m. with Rev. Shannon Brumfield offi-
ciating.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery Canisteo.
