Nancy Joan Melzer obituary

Nancy Melzer Obituary

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Nancy Joan (Keenan) Melzer on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025. She was 88 years old.
Born in DuBois to parents Fred and Aileen Keenan, Nancy had five siblings, three of whom are deceased, Helen Kovalchick (Stump Creek), Sue Carter (Monroe, Alabama), and Theodore Depp (Big Run). Surviving relatives include Marjorie Hetrick (Punxsutawney) and Frank Keenan (Hamilton).
Nancy attended Sykesville and Henderson Township High School and graduated in 1956. She married Robert Melzer, Jr. and had four children. They were married for 54 years before he succumbed to cancer in 2013.
During her lifetime, Nancy held several positions in the community, and the two she enjoyed most were working for the American Cancer Society and being the proprietor of Hodge Podge Antiques.
In her spare time, she enjoyed being a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, combing antique stores for unique finds, spending quality time with family, and traveling to interesting destinations throughout the world. Due to its wild and majestic landscape, Alaska was a favorite.
Nancy is survived by her children, Roberta (Melzer) Berger and husband David, Elizabeth (Melzer) Luck and husband Michael, Susan (Melzer) Fetterman and husband Patrick, and Douglas Melzer and wife Heather. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Nancy's light shone brightly; her spirit was pure. She epitomized everything good and true in a human being: kindness, gentleness, patience, loyalty, encouragement and love.
To her friends and family, she was a beautiful gift, a soft-hearted, soft-spoken woman who effortlessly spread unconditional love. She will be deeply missed.
