Richard Steffy Obituary

Richard Dwight Steffy, 77, of Punxsutawney, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, at home, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
He was born on June 23, 1941, in Kittanning, a son of the late Paul Edward and Dorothy Mae (Farster) Steffy.
Richard was an avid sportsman who loved being in the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing. Another favorite pastime was hanging out with his friends at Jordan's Taxidermy.
He cherished time with his children and grandchildren, encouraging their interests in fishing and hunting. He really enjoyed family vacations for the time spent together and for the wonderful memories that they created.
Richard battled multiple myeloma for 11 years but did not allow that to hold him back from forming new amazing friendships with other patients and staff at Hahne Cancer Center. His positive influence will be sadly missed by many.
Surviving relatives include three children, Richard Dwight Steffy, Jr. and wife Natalie of Carlisle, Dana Ray and husband Eric of Punxsutawney, and Deborah Fisher and husband Vinnie of Copley, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Andrew Steffy, Justin Ray, Catherine (Steffy) Yeager, Nathan Ray, Kaitlyn Ray, Megan Ray, Sophia Fisher, Vinny Fisher, Jacob Fisher, and Elizabeth Fisher; one great-grandchild, Phoebe Yeager; one brother, Gary Steffy and wife Susan of Mayport; one sister, Glenda Monarch and husband Bob of Columbus, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews whom he cherished very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Brandon Patrick Ray.
In accordance with his wishes there will be no viewing. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at One Life Church, 500 Pine St., Punxsutawney.
A memorial service will be held at One Life Church at noon, officiated by Pastor Guy Smith.
A luncheon will follow at the church.
Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Steffy's memory to Shriners Children Hospital, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 (earmarked for Shriners Children Hospital of Philadelphia), or to Hahne Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Dr., DuBois, PA 15801.

Just found out today. Rich was a great person I used to work with him years ago. My sympathies go out to his fiends and family

Till we meet again

November 16, 2018

He was born 1 year, 1 month and 1 day before me. Growing up, he always looked out for me. We played out doors summer, fall, winter, spring. The last few years we visited by phone a couple times a week. He was a great Big Brother but also my best friend. Couldn't have asked for more except more time together.
