Robert Freno Obituary

Robert "Bob" Edward Freno, Sr., 85, of Burnside, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Penn Highlands DuBois in DuBois.
The son of Andrew M. and Anna (Goydich) Freno, he was born on Aug. 21, 1939, in Gipsy.
Bob was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School. Bob married the love of his life, Cecile "Lynn" (Pearce), in 1962. They created a beautiful family of their own and shared 60 years of marriage until her passing on Oct. 11, 2022.
He was a lifetime member of the Church of the Resurrection Glen Campbell site.
Bob worked as a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local 66 for over 27 years. He and his wife Lynn owned and operated Freno's Bar together for over 20 years.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Bob was a charter member of the Montgomery Twp. Rod and Gun Club. He was a social member of the Glen Campbell American Legion Post 435.
Bob loved camping at Cross Forks. Bob enjoyed the kids on his block, with whom he shared a wonderful friendship. Their frequent visits were one of the highlights of his day.
For 37 years, he enjoyed sharing his pool with his family and friends. Even after a full day of work, he would gather family and friends to go swimming.
In his younger days, Bob was known as a talented baseball player and was named MVP of Jefferson & Indiana County League. A humble man, most people never knew of one of his proudest sports accomplishment, when he hit a triple off of Satchel Paige at an exhibition game in Gipsy.
Bob will be greatly missed by his two children, Patty (Freno) Yamrick and husband Michael of Burnside, and Robert Freno, Jr. and wife Deb of Dixonville; his four grandchildren, Michael Yamrick, Jr. and wife Cassie of Greensburg, K.C. Jasper of Dixonville, Robert Freno III of Dixonville, and Patty Ann Hinton and husband Josh of Glen Campbell; his 13 great grandchildren, who adored their Pap; his sister, Betty Mattis and husband Tom of Arcadia; and his sister-in-law, Nancy Freno of Glen Campbell, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lynn; his grandson, Stephen Yamrick, on Sept. 13, 2012; his five sisters: Christine Kazanowski, Edna Franco, Dorothy Freno, Jenny Zimnicki and Anna Mae Bailey; and his two brothers, John and Andrew Freno.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Church of the Resurrection in Glen Campbell, with Rev. James Morley officiating. Interment will take place at Burnside Cemetery in Burnside.
