Robert "Bob" Edward Freno, Sr., 85, of Burnside, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Penn Highlands DuBois in DuBois.
The son of Andrew M. and Anna (Goydich) Freno, he was born on Aug. 21, 1939, in Gipsy.
Bob was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School. Bob married the love of his life, Cecile "Lynn" (Pearce), in 1962. They created a beautiful family of their own and shared 60 years of marriage until her passing on Oct. 11, 2022.
He was a lifetime member of the Church of the Resurrection Glen Campbell site.
Bob worked as a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local 66 for over 27 years. He and his wife Lynn owned and operated Freno's Bar together for over 20 years.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Bob was a charter member of the Montgomery Twp. Rod and Gun Club. He was a social member of the Glen Campbell American Legion Post 435.
Bob loved camping at Cross Forks. Bob enjoyed the kids on his block, with whom he shared a wonderful friendship. Their frequent visits were one of the highlights of his day.
For 37 years, he enjoyed sharing his pool with his family and friends. Even after a full day of work, he would gather family and friends to go swimming.
In his younger days, Bob was known as a talented baseball player and was named MVP of Jefferson & Indiana County League. A humble man, most people never knew of one of his proudest sports accomplishment, when he hit a triple off of Satchel Paige at an exhibition game in Gipsy.
