Sandra "Sandy" Farbo

1939 - 2024

Sandra ""Sandy"" Farbo, 84, of Walston, passed away on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born in Punxsutawney on April 1, 1939, a daughter of the late Frances Sutter.
Mrs. Farbo was a faithful member of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church and formerly Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Walston, and enjoyed attending Mass.
On April 23, 1960, she married Donald Anthony Farbo, Sr.; he preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1993.
She worked at Mary A. Wilson Elementary School for many years as a lunch lady.
Cooking for her family was very important to her, and she continued to do so at every opportunity. Meeting with her friends and enjoying meals and conve-
rsation with them was another highlight of her days.
She enjoyed all sports and especially watching tennis matches on television in her spare time.
Above all else, being a grandmother to Derek was her greatest joy.
She was incredibly proud of him and cherished watching him grow into a fine young man.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Anthony Farbo, Jr. and Mary Lynn Portzer of Luthersburg; and Douglas Alan Farbo and wife and daughter Katie and Harbor of Punxsutawney; and one grandson, Derek Farbo.
She was preceded in death by her mother, husband Don, and an infant daughter, Candace Farbo.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church, cele
brated by Monsignor Joseph Riccardo.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
