Doris Dissinger
Born: June 3, 1934 in Troy Grove, IL
Died: December 30, 2021 in Dalzell, IL
Doris Dissinger, 87, formerly of Granville, passed away from complications of COVID, December 30, 2021 at JPO Retirement Home. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private memorial service for immediate family was Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville, IL.
Doris was born June 3, 1934, at home in Troy Grove to Joseph J. and Marion (Becker) McNally, and was the first in her family to graduate from Mendota High School. She married Robert T. Dissinger on December 31, 1955 at Holy Cross Church in Mendota. He passed away August 25, 1998. Doris always said she was so proud that she had "good" kids...Donna (Mike) Zuniga of Granville, Barb (Jack) Schmitz of Mark, Bob (Marcia) Dissinger Jr. of Spring Valley, Linda (Dan) Kozel of LaSalle and Shirley (Dennis) Pacetti of Utica, along with grandchildren Michelle (Jason Caresio) Zuniga of Peru, Michael Zuniga of Granville, Bobby (Julie) Zuniga of Granville and their boys Brayden, Tyson & Jaxon, several nieces & nephews, bonus grandchildren and bonus great-grandchildren.
Doris will forever be remembered for her dedication to family and her unwavering work ethic at home and the 33 years that she worked at Hobbs, Spring Valley. Never one to complain, she quietly saw to everyone's needs before her own. She was a talented seamstress, who was a self-taught tailor, upholsterer, quilter, an award-winning baker and "Grand Champion Cook" at the Mendota Fair. She would stay up half the night preparing her entries that filled the back of a station wagon, and were delivered by one of the kids to the fair while she went to work the next day. Doris took pride in her flower gardens and grew (and canned) a tremendous vegetable garden each year. Her compassion and kindness toward everyone she met will be deeply missed.
Along with her children, Doris is survived by her sisters-in-law Irma Judy of LaMoille, Virginia McNally of Cherry and Sandy McNally of Triumph.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, son Jerry (deceased March 21, 2009), sister, Mary Dankenbring, brothers, Joe McNally, Don McNally, Bill McNally, Bobbie McNally and in-laws LeRoy Dankenbring, Paul Biers, Bill Judy, Bernie McNally and MaryLou McNally.
