Eva Marie Larson Kowalski
1925 - 2021
Jul. 4, 1925 - Nov. 4, 2021 Eva Marie was born on the Fourth of July 1925 in San Pedro, California, to Martha and Nils Larson. She graduated from San Pedro High School, Winter class of 1943. After high school, Eva trained as a nurse at Los Angeles County Hospital. In 1950, she moved to San Francisco where she worked in a pediatric doctor's office. San Francisco is where she met her future husband and best friend, Leo Kowalski. They married in 1957. The couple moved with their two young daughters to San Pedro in 1964. Eva was an enthusiastic homemaker, an accomplished cook, seamstress, knitter, poll-worker and later, a hospice volunteer. Above all, she was a loving mother, wife, friend and neighbor. She was a great listener, always ready to lend and ear, or a hand. Her hugs were the stuff of legend. Eva and Leo enjoyed 64 years of love and laughter through raising family, entertaining friends and traveling the world together in their later years. Preceded in death by her husband, Leo, and many life-long friends whom she cherished throughout her days, Eva's kindness, compassion and humor touched the lives of countless others until the end, November 4, 2021. Eva will be deeply missed by her family, daughters Andrea Kowalski and Julie Biggs, son-in-law Steve Biggs and grandson Karl Biggs, the extraordinary women who lovingly cared for her in the final months, Seidi Duarte, Lilia Tovar and Carmen Lopez, extended family in Norway, Sweden, and Poland, and all who knew her and remain. Funeral service will be held at 10am on November 19 at the historic Little White Church at Green Hills Memorial Park. A celebration of her life will follow.
