Aug 8, 1933 - Jun 24, 2021 James K McDonald affectionately known as "Pop". Passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon June 24th at the age of 87. He was surrounded by family and friends. He is now with his wife Bobbie and son Steve in heaven. He is survived by his sister Eileen Graham and her husband Harold Graham. His daughter Jan McDonald and her partner Lorenzo Cruz, his grandson Kevin McDonald and his wife Megan McDonald and his great grandkids Quinn, Callie and Finn. His granddaughter Kaiana McDonald and her partner Joey Notch. His two sister in laws Margie Brookman and Joyce Calvert. His two brother in laws Hugh Coleman and Fred Coleman. And a whole lot of nieces and nephews. He graduated from Pepperdine where he met his wife Bobbie McDonald. He got his Master's from USC. He taught at Cal State Long Beach. Then started teaching in Torrance then went on to teach in Redondo Beach he became a principal at several schools in Redondo. He eventually went to work in the district office. When he retired he worked for UCLA extension helping new teachers. During this time he also was the "temporary" choir director at South Bay Baptist Church for 30 years. He was known for his puns and sometimes He was actually funny. He will be missed by so many. His celebration of life will be held on July 24th 11:00 am at Lighthouse Memorials and Receptions - Rice Center, 5310 Torrance Blvd, Torrance, CA 90503. Jim was a wonderful, nice man. I enjoyed working with him when we both worked for Redondo Beach School District in the 70´s and 80´s. I remember his funny wit!
