May 10, 1950 - December 2, 2021 John Lawrence Cowley, age 71, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Redondo Beach, Calif., on December 2, 2021. John was born on May 10, 1950, in Trenton, N.J. to Margaret and Thomas Cowley. He graduated from Ewing High School in 1969 and served in the United States Army at Camp Casey in South Korea from March 11, 1970, to March 1, 1972. He graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1976. John enjoyed investigative work and served as an inspector for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for 22 years, with postings in Los Vegas and Los Angeles. After he retired from that work in 2007, he founded South Bay Investigations and worked as a private investigator. He was passionate about sports and regularly attended Dodgers, Lakers, Kings and Rams games with friends and family. He also loved betting on horse races and other sporting contests, and was a frequent visitor to Las Vegas. He is survived by his wife Olga Abbott, his older brother Thomas Cowley and Tom's wife Nancy, and his sister-in-law Barbara Stokes, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all of them. A memorial tribute to John's life will be held on Jan. 13 at Green Hills Memorial Park at 2 pm PST.
