John G. McCorkell passed away March 2, 2021 as the result of a medical condition exacerbated by his personal battle with COVID-19 and the on-going effects from that prior illness. He was 65 years old. John was born and raised in San Pedro, California and graduated from San Pedro High School. At the time he passed, he was living in the Mohave Valley in Arizona. John spent much of his adult life there, with the exception of time spent back in California as a caregiver for his mother. John gave a great deal of love, time, and dedication to her care. John was an outdoorsman, into hunting and fishing. After high school, he spent time in Minnesota in the Outward Bound program. In 1976 he joined the Marine Corps and served at Camp Pendleton and in Okinawa. John loved listening to talk radio and he loved music - especially acoustical guitar and banjo. He was a self-taught guitar player. He also loved to cook and was passionate about art. He was a lifetime member of the San Pedro Elks Club. John was preceded in death by a sister Lyn Ellen (born/died 1958), his father Gordon (1999), and his mother Patsy (2018), and is survived by his sister Kieran Edmundson.
