November 21, 1946 - August 21, 2021 Judy Faye (Orstad) Surdez, age 74 (November 21, 1946 - August 21, 2021), passed away on Saturday, August 21st at Caring House, after a swift and courageous battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Judy was raised by her Aunt Hazel and Uncle Harold Grayson in rural Worthing, South Dakota, then rural Sioux Falls, South Dakota near Skyline Heights. She graduated from Baltic High School in 1964. Judy has resided in rural Crooks, South Dakota; as well as Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, Manhattan Beach, and Redondo Beach, California. Most recently, she lived in Torrance, California, where she retired from a long career in medical transcription, as well as selling crystal rocks. Judy was an avid eagle nest watcher - her favorite nests to watch being in Big Bear, California and Decorah, Iowa. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends. Judy is survived by her daughter, Dione Surdez, and Dione's spouse, J. Garrett Oliver, and her granddaughter, Patience Wade, all of Torrance, California. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly (Grayson) Thompson, of Cave Creek, Arizona. Judy was predeceased by her mother, Marie (Abbas) Orstad; her father, Harry Orstad; and, her sons, Will Surdez and Leigh Surdez. Memorial service will begin at 10 AM on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
