Leon Callaway Obituary
1934 - 2012
Leon was born and raised in San Pedro. His grandparents was one of the first Norwegian families to settle in San Pedro, in the 1800s. He was talented, gentle and a very private person who was respected by all who knew him. He was a retired Inspector for the Port of Los Angeles and a commercial photographer. He was known as "Mr. Old Time San Pedro," due to his vast collection of old photos. Leon passed away on September 26th, at his home after a shockingly brief illness. He leaves his sister, Jean Caroline Callaway, his daughter, Aimee-Noel, and his wife, Mary. At his request, burial was private. In lieu of flowers please do Random Acts of Kindness in his name. We wish to thank all who eased his passing.

Dear Callaway Family,
I recently waws going through some slides Leon had sent to me and realized I had not heard from him for some time. I am so sad to learn that he passed away months ago and I did not realize it. One of my most memorable trips to LA was when Leon and I headed out to rail-fan one day and we had a ball! His memory and our correspondence shall always be important to me. I wish you well and God's care to you and Leon.

My Dear Callaway family: I was deeply sadden to learn of the passing of Leon-("Brother"). My family were long time friends of his mother, Elsie, and his sister Jean. "Brother" was a special person, one of a gentle, quiet nature, a caring, thoughtful person. My Father had worked at the old San Pedro Ferry Building, where he knew Leon. My mother knew his Mother, Elsie and daughter Jean so very well. May I express my extreme sorrow and Blessing to you all. May God's Love be with during this time of loss. Mary, I was saddened to hear of the loss of Leon. I remember you well from the Weight Watcher meetings (before I moved to Williamsburg Va). May God give you peace at this time.
