04/30/1930 - 12/24/2021 Rosa Scotto di Palumbo was born April 30, 1930 in Ischia, Italy and passed away on December 24, 2021 at the age of 91. Rosa immigrated to the United States in 1947 with her mom, brother and sister to meet up with her father who was already here in San Pedro working as a fisherman. She attended San Pedro High School and there learned English. She met the love of her life, Salvatore, at the Mary Star of the Sea Fiesta and after a year of dating married him on September 4, 1954. They were married for 52 years until his death in 2006. Rosa and Salvatore lived in San Fransisco for a few years after being married, then returned to San Pedro to be closer to her family. Rosa was a seamstress out of her home for many years before becoming a teachers aide at Willenberg Special Educational Center. She worked at Willenberg for over 18 years and loved working with the special needs children. Rosa was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was strong in her Catholic Faith. She was an active member of the Holy Trinity Better Half Club, Holy Trinity Legion of Mary, and Mary Star of the Sea St. Anne Society. She loved participating in her families many school and athletic events and always welcomed everyone into her home. The last 3 years of her life, when dementia started to set in, she lived with her son and his family in Rancho Palos Verdes. Rosa loved being together with not only her immediate family, but her extended family as well. Rosa was very loving, compassionate and kind person who truly loved living life to the fullest. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed sharing good food, good wine and unlimited laughter with everyone she encountered. Her love of life and family will be greatly missed. She was an awesome mom who was always there when you needed her. Rosa is survived by her son Michael (Jennifer) Scotto di Palumbo, grandson Hayden, nieces Emily (Mario) Zabatta, Antoinette (Kevin) Smith, nephew John Joseph DiMeglio, numerous great neices and nephews and her best friend Frances Sala. She is preceded in death by her husband Salvatore, mother and father Giovanni Giuseppe and Emilia DiMeglio, brother and sister-in-law Frank and Teresa DiMeglio, and sister Josephine DiMeglio. Dear Michael and family, we are deeply saddened to learn of your mothers passing. Your mom was a wonderful lady, I enjoyed spending time with her at all our Holy Trinity School activity's. I know that she is at peace and home with her Sal. May all her love and wonderful memories always be with you. RIP sweet Rosa
