9/6/1965 - 10/23/2021 Ryan Sunahara, resident of Lomita, CA, passed away on October 23, 2021, at the age of 56. He was born on September 6, 1965, to Charles and Marilyn Sunahara, in Los Angeles, CA, the youngest of three children. He grew up in Gardena, CA, and is a 1983 graduate of Gardena High School. He went on to attend El Camino College, California State University Dominguez Hills, and graduated from Mount St. Mary's University with a degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant. Ryan spent most of his occupational therapy career working in care centers in Torrance, CA, helping people regain functional skills to be as independent as possible in their daily lives. He had a big heart and was known to donate shoes and clothing to patients in need, and would often visit former patients after discharge to see how they were doing. Ryan was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Janice Sunahara, brother Jeffrey (Wendy) Sunahara, sister Stephanie Sunahara, children Drew and Keira Sunahara, nieces Shae and Charlize Sunahara, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. His memory will live on in the hearts of all the lives he has touched. Service held at Gardena Valley Baptist Church on November 18, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., followed by the burial at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. www.GreenHillsMortuary.com
