Shawn Eric Fillion
1982 - 2021
Shawn Eric Fillion was born at Saint John's Hospital in Santa Monica, CA December 1982, and passed away August 21, 2021 in Lomita, California, at the age of 38. Shawn died by suicide after a long and courageous battle with mental illness (Schizophrenia) as his pain became unbearable. He is survived by his mother, Lise Fillion, of Lomita; Uncle Michel Fillion (Nancy Leclerc), Aunts Helene Fillion and Lorraine Drolet, cousins Eric, Annick, Maude, and Marie-Lou, of Quebec, Canada and Claudia of Stuttgart, Germany. He was predeceased by his grandparents and uncles, Serge Fillion and Jean-Guy Bergeron. Shawn graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School, Torrance, CA in 2001, obtained an AA in Mathematics from El Camino College 2007, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from CSU Long Beach in 2011. Shawn's interests varied with surfing, martial arts, playing guitar and chess, writing poetry, drawing and cooking. His mother would like to acknowledge deep gratitude to Mitch Jackson, a Life Coach at Seeking Light Foundation. Funeral services will be held at St. James Catholic Church Friday, September 17, 2021 at 2pm. Masks and social distancing required. In lieu of flowers, please donate to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or Seeking Light Foundation Greater South Bay area in memory of Shawn.

He sat behind me in fourth grade at St James on the first day of school. We were buddies from then on. He was smart and loving. He'll always be in my prayers. Rest in peace brother.
