JAMES NEILSON Obituary

JAMES NEILSON James M. Neilson was born in Pioche, Nev. on November 23, 1920, to James A. Neilson and Hazel Lee, and died October 13, 2013. As a young man, he broke and trained horses, and he never lost his love for a fine horse and a good ride. He later worked as a miner which led to a career in mining construction of shafts and tunnels. He retired from the NTS and enjoyed wood working and shared his talents with family and friends. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army. Because James had keen observation skills, he was appointed as an Intelligence Scout which earned him the Bronze Star in the Battle of Okinawa. He received life-long respect from his peers for his excellent work ethics and natural leadership ability. He is survived by the love of his life of 75 years, his wife, Lola Vee Neilson; his supportive children: LaBerta Schellhase, Janet Roberts, Melvin Neilson, and Linda (Ron) Hager; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grand children; 34 great-great grandchildren; and 4 siblings, Donald Neilson, Wanda (Bob) McCrosky, Mary (Larry) Carson, and Peggy (Tom) Rowe. The family extends their appreciation to the nursing staff of Professional Case Care and a special thanks to Charlene Lamoreaux. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 11:00am at Panaca Memorial Park, 1500 E. Ernst Street, Panaca, Nevada 89042.
