Anita Schindler, 58, passed away on February 5, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Anita Schindler, the daughter of Ursula Schoellhorn and Dieter Schindler, was born on May 8, 1962 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Anita became a United States citizen on September 14, 1994. Anita married Julie Hillyer on September 25, 2004. Anita helped others with a true conviction. It did not matter if it was an animal, stranger, friend, or family. Her desire to help was abundant, and she loved with her whole heart.
Due to COVID-19, a celebration of life will be held on a date to be determined.
Survivors include wife, Julie Hillyer; children, Jessica (Andrew) Witte, Lindsay Hillyer; eight beautiful grandchildren; and Claudia Fleming.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ralf Schindler; and her grandson, Mason Willis Daniel Witte.
Arrangements are with Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline.

I last saw Anita 40 years ago, at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Anita befriended me while we were there for Basic Training, and AIT. I always remembered her name, and that she was from Iowa. Tonight, I decided to look her up on FB. I'm saddened to hear of her recent passing... and so young. Julie, I'm sorry to hear of the loss to you and your family.
