MILAN-Betty Lou Tobin, 88, of Milan died Sunday, December 18, 2022 at home with family by her side.
A funeral service will be 10:00am Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
Betty was born on May 29, 1934, the daughter of Gust and Maydie (Gitt) Berg. Betty married Lee Tobin on March 13, 1960 at Milan Presbyterian Church.
She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1952 and immediately started working as a school secretary for the Rock Island – Milan School District, retiring in 2000 after 42 years. The staff, students and parents at Audubon, Eugene Field, W.L. Eddy and Thomas Jefferson became a second family.
Betty was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school for 41 years. She loved supporting her daughters in their activities and careers and cheering on her grandsons in their sports. Betty enjoyed going dancing with Lee, baking for family and friends, and spending time with her friends, "The Jolly Dollies."
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 62 years, Lee Tobin; daughters, Susan (John) Schneider and Linda Tobin; grandsons, Adam Schneider and Blake Schneider; step grandsons, Eric (Quan) Schneider and Jack (Kam) Schneider; step great granddaughters, Eleanor, Harper and Violet Schneider.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Karen; sisters and brother in law, Eda Berg and Viking and Linnea Skarp; two infant brothers; and an infant sister.
The family would like to thank Betty's special angels, Chris, Jill, and Lisa and Unity Point Hospice for their compassionate care.

Linda, I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. She touched many lives and was fortunate enough to have a long and rewarding life. No matter when you lose your mom, it´s never enough time and the loss is deep. You have my deepest sympathy in your loss.
